Terms of Service

Last updated: October 22, 2026

These Terms govern your use of AvatarShot (“AvatarShot”, “we”, “us”), a platform for sharing and discovering images and creators from virtual worlds. By creating an account or using the service you agree to these Terms.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. Visitors who are not signed in see General and non-explicit Mature shots, never 18+ ones. Safe mode hides Mature and 18+ shots; Standard includes non-explicit Mature shots; Mature mode includes 18+ shots only for adults who have opted in. You must provide accurate information, including your date of birth. Age is based on the date you provide and is not document-verified.

2. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for all activity on your account. Tell us promptly at hello@avatarshot.com if you believe your account has been compromised.

Following a creator adds their eligible shots to your Following feed. Push alerts for new shots are optional and off by default. Sparks are free appreciation signals, have no monetary value and can be removed by the sender.

3. Your content

You keep ownership of the images and text you post. By posting, you grant AvatarShot a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, resize and display that content in order to operate, show and promote the service. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies retained for a limited time in backups or where required by law.

A shot marked “Only me” is visible only to you and AvatarShot moderators. It is stored privately and is not included in feeds, search, collections, share cards, messages or official social channels. Its privacy setting cannot be changed after publication.

Collections are galleries of saved shots. You can make a collection public, so others can browse it, or private, so only you can open it. Shots marked “Only me” cannot be added to collections.

Community square. Verified members may publish public questions, collaboration requests and shared tips, and reply to others. These texts are public even with a private profile. Do not post explicit content, private information, harassment or spam. You can remove your own messages, report a message using its options, block members from their profiles, and mute conversation notifications. Removed texts are no longer public; the team may retain them for moderation until account deletion. Staff questions of the week may be highlighted for seven days.

Official channels. If you allow it in Settings or on the upload form, AvatarShot may repost your shots, credited to you and linking back to them, on its official accounts (Discord, Bluesky, Mastodon, VK, Facebook, Plurk). Some platforms (DeviantArt) only accept work by the uploader, so we post there only if you separately opt in and only shots that are your own work. 18+ shots are reposted only in the age-restricted 18+ channel of AvatarShot’s Discord server, with the image hidden as a spoiler, and only if the author — who must be an adult — separately opts in; they are never reposted anywhere else. You can withdraw any of these permissions at any time; on request we remove posts already published.

Share images. AvatarShot generates branded images of public profiles and shots (for example for stories and link previews), made only from content that is already public and never from 18+, private or hidden shots.

You confirm that you have the rights needed to post your content, including the rights of any creators whose work appears in it, and that it complies with the rules of the virtual world it comes from and with our Community Guidelines.

4. Prohibited content and conduct

Feed discovery. The default Balanced feed shows one eligible photo per creator per round, newest first within each round, before showing each creator’s next photo. The same rule applies to members, Pro subscribers and staff; publishing more photos does not guarantee consecutive positions or equal view counts. Eligible photos remain available, and you can choose Recent for chronological order, Most liked or Most viewed. Your privacy and content preferences still apply. See the full feed rule.

  • Any sexualised depiction of minors, or of avatars designed to look like minors.
  • Adult content that is not marked 18+, or adult content in a world that does not allow it on AvatarShot.
  • Images generated or substantially changed with generative AI that are not labelled “Made with generative AI”.
  • Content you do not have the right to share, harassment, hate speech, spam, or attempts to disrupt or scrape the service.

5. Moderation

Every uploaded image goes through an automatic safety check. If it may involve minors, or contain adult content that is not marked 18+ in a world that does not allow it, it is held until the team reviews it; if it may contain adult content in a world that allows it and you are an adult, it may be marked 18+ automatically. An image whose own file says it was made with AI is labelled accordingly. Automatic checks never suspend accounts: those decisions are always taken by a person.

We may review, hide or remove content, and suspend or close accounts, that break these Terms or the Community Guidelines. You can report content from any shot page and messages from the conversation; if you believe a decision about your account is wrong, you can appeal from the support page.

6. Direct messages

Verified members can send each other private messages. Anyone you don’t follow lands in your message requests, and can send at most 3 messages until you accept. You choose who can write to you in Settings, and you can mute, delete a chat for yourself, or block a member at any time. For safety, a member under 18 and an adult can only exchange messages if the younger member follows the adult.

Messages are private: the team does not read them, except the reported message and up to five messages before it when a member reports a message. The rules in section 4 and the Community Guidelines apply to messages too; unsolicited promotion, harassment and attempts to move minors to other platforms lead to suspension. When you tap “Translate”, the text of that message is sent to our translation provider (see the Privacy Policy).

7. Founding Members program

The first 100 members who confirm their email address become Founding Members. Accounts of the AvatarShot team (admins and moderators) cannot claim a spot; a Founding Member who later joins the team keeps their number. Founding numbers are assigned in the order emails are confirmed (the lowest free number first) and are shown publicly on the member's profile and on the Founders page.

A Founding spot is held by members who contribute: a Founding Member must publish their first shot (public and not hidden by moderation) within 14 days of joining the program. For members who joined before this rule was introduced on 14 October 2026, the period runs from that date. We send a reminder 3 days before the period ends. If no shot is published in time, the spot is released: the badge, the number and the free Pro access end, the number may be given to the next member who confirms their email, and the same account cannot claim a spot again. Once the first shot is published, the badge and number are kept permanently, including when an account is deleted. AvatarShot may also restore, release or reassign a Founding number at its discretion.

Founding Members receive AvatarShot Pro free of charge for the lifetime of the service, on one condition: they must publish at least one shot every 90 days. The period is counted from the most recent shot that is published and not hidden by moderation, or from the date the member joined the program if they have not posted yet. We send an email reminder 14 days before the period ends. If no shot is published by the end of the period, the free Pro access ends permanently. The Founding Member badge and number are kept in every case.

Free Pro access is personal, cannot be transferred or exchanged for money, and ends if the account is suspended or closed for breaking these Terms. The features included in Pro may change over time as the service evolves; Founding Members always receive the same Pro features as paying members.

8. Ambassador and Featured Creators programs

Members can earn rewards for bringing new people to AvatarShot. A person counts as your invite when they arrive through your profile link from outside AvatarShot, or through any AvatarShot link carrying ?ref= followed by your username, or write your username as their invite code, and then create an account. An invite becomes active once the new member has confirmed their email address, added a profile photo and a bio of at least 10 characters, and published at least 3 public shots. Accounts that stay empty never count. Invites that were already active on 16 October 2026, under the earlier rule (confirmed email and a first shot), keep counting. Visitor counts are shown for information only and never earn rewards.

Rewards for active invites: 1 invite — Ambassador badge; 3 invites — one month of AvatarShot Pro; 10 invites — three more months of Pro and the Silver Ambassador badge; 25 invites — twelve more months of Pro, the Gold Ambassador badge and a place in the Community page spotlight. Each reward is granted once. At most 10 active invites per calendar month count towards rewards. Reward Pro is added to any Pro time you already have, is personal, cannot be transferred or exchanged for money, and has no cash value.

Invites must be genuine. Creating or buying accounts, inviting yourself, spam, misleading promotion, or paid advertising that uses AvatarShot’s name are not allowed. We may refuse to count invites, remove rewards and badges, or suspend accounts involved in abuse. Members who reach the monthly leaderboard may be shown publicly with their name and number of invites that month. We may change or end the program with notice on this page; rewards already granted are kept.

9. Welcome back program (AvatarShot 1.0 members)

AvatarShot 2.0 started from scratch and accounts of the previous version of the service (AvatarShot 1.0) were not carried over. As a thank you, a person who had an AvatarShot 1.0 account and creates an AvatarShot account by 31 December 2026 receives AvatarShot Pro free of charge for the lifetime of the service and the Original Member badge. We recognise a returning member when they verify the same Second Life avatar they used on AvatarShot 1.0, or confirm the same email address that was on their AvatarShot 1.0 account; Pro and the badge are then added automatically, once per person. To tell former members about this offer we may send a single in-world message to the Second Life avatars of AvatarShot 1.0 accounts.

Unlike the Founding Members program, this Pro access does not require regular posting. It is personal, cannot be transferred or exchanged for money, has no cash value, and ends if the account is suspended or closed for breaking these Terms. Members of the AvatarShot team are not eligible. Founding Members who are also returning members keep both badges.

10. Challenges, Colosseum and Magazine

AvatarShot contests reward human creativity. Images generated or substantially changed with generative AI cannot enter challenges or the Colosseum and are not selected for the Magazine (including its cover); they can still be shared in the feeds with the “Made with generative AI” label. Usual photo editing (light, colour, crop, retouching) is welcome. If a shot is labelled as AI after it entered, by its author or by our team, it leaves every contest still running; contests and Magazine issues already finished keep their results. Hiding the use of AI to take part in a contest breaks these Terms and may lead to disqualification and loss of the prize.

The Colosseum runs free photo challenges decided by community votes, either in an elimination bracket of 1v1 duels or in Survival rounds where the lowest scores are eliminated, entered solo or in teams. Entering is free and no purchase is needed to take part or to win. Each challenge page shows its theme, the shots allowed, the entry deadline, the length of each round and the prizes; the Colosseum rules explain entries, teams, pairing, voting, trials, powers and tie-breaks and form part of these Terms. Powers are free (a number per round, more with Pro), are shown publicly and cannot be bought, sold or transferred. Challenges proposed by members are reviewed by our team, which may change or refuse them.

Votes must be genuine: multiple accounts, bought or traded votes, bots and similar tricks are not allowed. We may remove votes or entries, disqualify members, cancel or change a challenge, and suspend accounts involved in abuse; our decisions on challenge results are final. Prizes (such as AvatarShot Pro time and badges) are personal, cannot be transferred or exchanged for money and have no cash value. By entering, you keep all rights to your shot and allow AvatarShot to show it on the challenge pages and to share it, with credit to you, on AvatarShot’s official channels to promote the challenge and its result.

11. AvatarShot Pro

Pro is a set of optional extra features. It can be obtained through the Founding Members program, the Ambassador program, the Featured Creators program (for as long as the status lasts), the Welcome back program, as a Colosseum prize or a paid monthly subscription, paid by card through Stripe at the price shown on the Pro page before you subscribe (currently €4 a month, taxes included where they apply). Pro can also be prepaid in L$ from your AvatarShot wallet, for one month or twelve months at the price shown on the Pro page (currently L$990 and L$9,900): prepaid Pro does not renew by itself and ends at the end of the period paid, and the time is added after any Pro you already have with an end date. L$ paid for Pro are not refunded, except where the law requires it. The subscription renews automatically every month and is charged at the start of each period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from the Pro page: Pro stays active until the end of the period already paid and is not renewed after it, and you can undo the cancellation before then. If you still have free Pro with an end date when you subscribe, the first payment is taken only when that free Pro ends. Periods already started are not refunded, except as below or where the law requires it. If you are a consumer in the European Union you may withdraw from the subscription within 14 days of subscribing by writing to us; because Pro starts at once at your request, we refund what you paid minus the part for the days already used. We may change the price for future periods with at least 30 days’ notice; you can cancel before the new price applies. Pro obtained for free ends at the end of the granted period, or earlier if the account is suspended or closed for breaking these Terms.

12. Managed Second Life bots

AvatarShot can run a Second Life bot for you on our servers. You must use a separate Second Life account that you own, created only to be a bot and registered with Linden Lab as a Scripted Agent, and you are responsible for it and for what you ask it to do. You give us its password so that our software can log it in: we store it encrypted, use it only to run the bot, and erase it when you cancel or 30 days after the bot is paused. Bots may not be used for spam, unsolicited mass messages, traffic or ranking tricks, harassment, or anything against these Terms or Linden Lab’s rules; we may pause or cancel a bot that does so, without refund.

Subscriptions are paid in L$ from your AvatarShot wallet, for the period you choose, at the prices shown when you subscribe (including any discount). A free trial is offered once per member. With automatic renewal on, the next period is taken from your wallet up to 24 hours before the current one ends; if your balance is too low, the bot keeps running for 48 hours and is then paused until you pay. You can turn automatic renewal off or cancel at any time; periods already started are not refunded. Upgrades are charged for the days left. We aim to keep bots online around the clock and restart them automatically, but Second Life outages, region restarts, account actions by Linden Lab and changes to the land’s permissions are outside our control and do not give a right to a refund; we may add free days at our discretion. Bot features may change; if we remove a feature you paid for, we will tell you and add equivalent time.

13. Brand plans for stores

Stores can use AvatarShot’s blogger and store tools on the free Starter plan or on a paid Brand or Brand Pro plan, with the limits shown on that page (bloggers, products, team members). Plans are paid for one month or one year, in L$ from the AvatarShot wallet of the person who pays, or by card in euro through Stripe, at the price shown when you pay. With automatic renewal on, wallet plans renew from the wallet up to 24 hours before they end; card payments do not renew by themselves. When a plan ends unpaid it keeps working for 3 days and the store then returns to Starter: nothing is deleted, but no more bloggers, products or team members can be added beyond Starter’s limits. Periods already started are not refunded, except where the law requires it. A free Brand Pro trial is offered once per store and never charges you. Founding Brands (the first 50 stores that claim the offer) get the free months announced, then the announced discount for as long as the plan is renewed without interruption; the Founding badge stays. Bloggers never pay. We may change prices and limits for future periods with notice on the site; periods already paid are not affected. AvatarShot does not take a share of your sales.

14. AvatarShot Radio and DJ lives

AvatarShot Radio can be listened to by signed-in members only, on the site or with the personal land link shown to you on the radio page; do not share that link outside your land, and we may disable it if it is misused. When no DJ is on air, the radio plays only music whose licence allows it (such as Creative Commons Attribution tracks, credited on air and on the radio page) and AvatarShot or advertiser spots.

DJs who broadcast through AvatarShot (on AvatarShot Radio or with a DJ streaming package) are solely responsible for the music and words they broadcast. You may broadcast only material you own or are licensed to broadcast, and you must hold or obtain any licence required where you and your listeners are (for example from SIAE, GEMA, PRS, ASCAP, BMI, SoundExchange or similar bodies). You will indemnify AvatarShot against claims, fines and costs caused by what you broadcast. We may end a live, take a stream off air, or suspend broadcasting rights at once, without refund, after a rights holder’s complaint or for content against these Terms.

15. Third-party platforms

AvatarShot is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Linden Lab, VRChat Inc., IMVU or any other virtual world operator. Names of virtual worlds are trademarks of their respective owners and are used only to identify where content comes from.

16. Disclaimers and liability

The service is provided “as is”. To the extent permitted by law, AvatarShot is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for content posted by users. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have as a consumer under mandatory law.

17. Changes and termination

We may update these Terms; material changes will be announced on the site. You may delete your account at any time from Settings.
